Discovery of Harappan civilization
The Harappan civilization was one of the four major civilization of the world. This civilization was from 2500 -1750 BC. The first Harappa Mound was mentioned in 1826 by Charles Manson. In 1856 during the railway line from Lahore to Karachi John bruton and William bruton receive some archaeological remains from the excavation.
Dayaram Sahni explored the Harappa Civilization in 1921 in the Punjab province of Pakistan excavating at Harappa situated on the bank of Ravi river. In 1924 Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India, General John Marshall declared the search for an innovative civilization of the Harappa before the whole world.
Civilization extend from 1600 kilometre is to west and 1100 kilometre from north to south which has increased.Dayaram Sahni
Rakhaldas Banerjee, N. G. Majumdar, Ravindra Singh Bisht and Ranganath Rao etc. had excavated various places of Harappa civilization.
